لقد امضى الطالقاني شطرا مهما من حياته السياسية والجهادية في السجون والمنافي حيث كان لهذه المقاطع الصعبة دورها المؤثر في تكوين شخصيته وتنمية تجربته لقد كان يعتقد ان الانسان الذي يمضي الى المعتقل يكون بمقدوره ان يرصد المجريات التي تضطرم داخل المجتمع عبر نافذة السجن أم من خلال رؤية خارجية راصدة ومن ثم اذا ما رام هذا الانسان ان يرصد اوضاع المجتمع ومخاضاته عبر الحضور العادية فيه , فلن يحظى في مسعاه ذاك بتوفيق معتنى به يساوي حصيلة الرؤية الاولى وقد استطاع ان يحول السجن الى جامعة حيث ارسى فيه قواعد درس قرأني تحول مع الايام الى مجلدات عدة في التفسير .
