PREFACE
570 A.D. atProphet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was born in Makkh in the Arabian peninsula. In 610 A.D. and when he was forty years of age, he received revelation from Allah,i.e.,God, through Angel Gabriel, who con-veyed to prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the first verses ofthe Holy Quran , which continued to be revealed in a piecemeal manner for twenty-three years,i.e. ,until the death of prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him , at the age of sixty-three.
The Holy Quran is the exact words of Allah,i.e., God, and is the main source of Islam. The second source of Is-lam ishadith, i.e., the traditions of prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. These traditions were also revealed to prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him , by Allah . How-ever, the difference between the revelation ofthe Holy Qu-ranthe revelation of and traditions is thatthe Holy Quranwas revealed in words and meanings, whereas the tradi-tions were revealed in meaning only. Theseprophetictra-ditions include three types : what prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said, what he did, and what he ap-proved of .
The prophetic traditions are an essential part of Islam , a fact confirmed by Allah intheHoly Quran. These tradi-tions explaintheHoly Quran, practically show how to per-form acts of worship mentioned inthe Holy Quran, give details about brief Quranic versed, specialize general indi-

cations in aQuranic verse, or add restrictions to it. A Mus-lim is to obey Allah through abiding bythe Holy Quran and abiding by the prophetic traditions, because these tra-dition are revealed by Allah as well .
In this book , I present a selection of Prophet Muham-mad's sayings in Arabic, the language of the original text, and in English , the language of t he translation. These se-lected sayings mainly deal with what is allowed and what is disallowed concerning different aspects of life and hu-man behavior. The content of these prophetic sayings shows both the magnificence and the comprehensiveness of Islam. I ask God,i.e.,Allah, to help us all to obey Him and spread His word and His guidance. Amen.
