PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings San Jose Members and Friends,

Please join us for our next monthly lunch meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. We will be hosting
a speaker’s panel exploring the impact of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) on Internal
Audit. While the FCPA has been around since the 1970’s, the recent emphasis on enforcement by the
U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and SEC highlights the need for companies to have robust anti-
corruption and anti-bribery programs.

Please register online at http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaID=169093 by Monday, August
3, 2009. Walk-in registration may be limited by space available so pre-registration is strongly
advised.

For those of you interested in CPE opportunities, the IIA International is hosting its GRC conference
thin San Diego August 24-26 . The theme of this year’s conference is “Internal Audit Solutions for
Tough Times”. For more information visit http://www.theiia.org/iia-training/conferences/iastt09-
about/ (This event is not hosted by the San Jose Area Chapter).

Please visit our web site www.theiia-sj.org for the latest in chapter resources, including speaker’s
presentations and materials, when available.

As always, I welcome any constructive comments regarding the chapter to build on our past
successes and maintain a vibrant chapter that provides value to our members.
