Hush from The University of Sydney, Australia for his outstanding contributions to electron transfer processes. Professor Hush developed theories with broad applications for predicting and explaining electron transfer processes. His elegant theories take into account both solvent reorganization and the inner structure of a molecular complex. He also explained how electrons transfer between species covalently linked by bridging molecules. His work has had wide impact in fields ranging from corrosion to solar energy to photosynthesis. Nobel Laureate Professor Ahmed Zewail, in whose name the Prize is honoured, remarked, "Noel has made profound contributions to molecular science. Noel Sydney Hush is Emeritus Professor of the School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences at the University of Sydney. He has been at the University for over thirty years and was its founder of the Theoretical Chemistry discipline.
