The Theatres Trust Announces its People's
Choice Award 2012 Winner
PR Newswire
LONDON, September 11, 2012
LONDON
,
September 11, 2012
/PRNewswire/ --
We are delighted to announce that The Theatres Trust People's Choice Award
2012 Winner is ShowTex.
Mr Koen Van Kerkhoven, Managing Partner of ShowTex Belgium was presented
with the Theatres Trust's sustainability award by PLASA's Chief Executive
Officer and Director of Events, Matthew Griffiths, for its Acoustic Baffle.
The Award was presented on the stage of the Trust's PLASA 2012 stand which
this year featured the 'Celebrating Ecovenue' exhibition. The People's Choice
Award was established through the Ecovenue project in 2010.
The People's Choice Award is voted for by visitors to the PLASA 2012 show at
Earls Court and is for products making inroads into sustainability - either
through design, manufacture or operation. The products entered into the 2012
Awards included:
CORE Lighting - CORE Theatre Worklight
Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc - ETC Source Four Dimmer
Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc - ETC Source Four LED
Martin - MAC Aura
Robert Juliat - TIBO
ShowTex - Acoustic Baffle
State Automation - INCAND-Air 30
At the Clay Paky sponsored ceremony drinks reception, Mr Van Kerkhoven said
"I am very proud to receive this award. Thank you to The Theatres Trust - this
why producing sustainable products is important".
Jessica Ballenger, Showtex Marketing Manager, added "We hope that the
process of developing the product will inspire others to look at product
development in a new way. The Acoustic Baffle came about organically by
starting with the principle of recycling first, and then finding the optimal way we
could use the end product of that recycling as a solution to shape acoustics in a
flexible, easy and ecological way".
Tim Atkinson, Theatre Building Services Adviser for The Theatres Trust, who is
delivering its European Regional Development Fund-backed 'Ecovenue' project,
said, "I'm delighted that ShowTex has received this year's award. As Ecovenue
ends on the 30 September I'm also pleased the Trust will continue to run the
award as a legacy of the project. You can read more about the Ecovenue
project's outcomes in our report 'Evaluating Ecovenue', also published today".
The Theatres Trust would like to thank Clay Paky for sponsorship of the People's
Choice Award drinks ceremony and all the sponsors and supporters that made
