Dear neighbours,
I hope you’ve all been enjoying 2012 so far. It might have been a slow
start with regards to the amount of activities taking place over the last
few months but all that is about to change. There will be no time to sit
at home twiddling your thumbs, particularly during this month as the
calendar is full of events for you to enjoy. St John Ambulance are
running another First Aid Course and I can highly recommend these as
being well run and great value for money having attended one myself
last year. There are plenty of spring fairs and other activities - just
look at pages 24 and 36 to see for yourself.
Most of you know what a busy bee I like to be and I really do
fnd time fys with the amount of activities I try to ft into my life.
I had a great time raising money with the Rotary Club just before
Christmas when I joined them Carol Singing in order to raise money for this
year’s Strawberry Tea (to be held in June).
Graham Crabb (R) On another musical theme, I went up to the O2 in Islington last year
to see one of our very own resident pop stars
performing on a come-back tour with his band,
Pop Will Eat Itself. I was very excited when I
found out that front man, Graham Crabb is living
in Edenbridge (and has been for some time now) as I was a
huge fan of the band as a school girl. They are perform-
ing more dates across the UK this month - you can check out dates on their
website at www.popwilleatitself.co.uk. If you remember them from the frst time
around (or even if you don’t), I highly recommend going along. I personally can’t
wait as they were absolutely fantastic!
There’s already been a number of other fund raising activities taking place this
year and last month I got a team together to join the fun for the Scouts fund
raising quiz night. My team didn’t win but we all
had a great night out and, after all, it’s the tak-
ing part that counts! The Scouts did a super job
collecting answer sheets and marking.

main event, the Fairtrade Trail, on Saturday 3rd March. You can fnd

For All Your Beauty Needs
Of course many of the local groups and organisations are beavering
away to be able to put on some great activities for this June’s Fun Day
and Pram Race. As soon as this issue is signed off for print then I
will be in full Fun Day mode as there is plenty to do. Pram Race ap-
plication forms will be ready by the end of the month and bookings are
starting to be taken for the Eden Valley English Market which will be
in the WBD Marquee in the NatWest Car Park on the day. Either
contact me for further information, visit the Chamber of Commerce
website at www.edenvalleychamber.org.uk or pop in to Magnolias on the
High Street.
Phone 01732 862224 One of my favourite events over the years has been attending
www.edenbeautytherapy.net
the Rotary Dinner Dance, held at Westerham Golf Club. It’s Monday 9.00am-1.00pm Tuesday 9.00am-5.00pm Wednesday 9.00am-5.00pm
Thursday 9.00am-8.00pm Friday 9.00am-5.00pm Saturday 9.00am-4.00pm always been the one chance I have during the year to really
get dressed up and this year I have even started dance classes so that I can
glide across the dance foor for a change. I know I’ll never be a great dancer
but the thought that my feet will know a bit more about what they’re doing
makes me feel better already. The dance classes take place in Rickards Hall
(behind the museum) every Tuesday from 7.30-9.30pm and cost £8 each
lesson. If you’d like to give it a try then just turn up on the night or contact
David on 07912 445 338.
The Edenbridge Players have also started rehearsing for their next production
- ‘Allo ‘Allo - to be performed on the 27/28th April at the WI Hall. After
seeing a few of their performances I have had the urge to join them myself so
will be alternating rehearsals with my dance classes. Tickets will be on sale
nearer the time from Howard Cundey in the High Street. It will certainly be an
entertaining evening out with all the usual ‘Allo ‘Allo jokes.
I’m hoping that we’ve seen the last of the snow as I’m writing this. For the last
12 months the weather has been mild at the time my distributors and I are out
and about delivering these magazines so fngers crossed spring is now on it’s

Editor’s noteway. I always appreciate the dedication my distributors have when
they’re doing the deliveries. I’d like to give a special mention to one of
my distributors who had an accident at the end of last year - Mary
Jenner - and I wish her a good recovery.
The Eden Valley Loyalty card is getting
more successful each month with more en-
tries coming in each week. The original tom-
bola the Chamber purchased for the draws will soon
be too small I fear. Our latest winners were Caroline
Pendred (December winner) and Sylvia Bee (January Caroline Pendred
winner), both winning a £50 voucher to spend at par-
ticipating businesses. The feedback from shoppers has been
phenomenal and the Chamber is delighted
with it’s success.
As always, please don’t forget to mention
The Edenbridge Directory if you’re re-
sponding to anything you’ve seen featured Lennox Cato has some
fun picking the winner! in this magazine as it really helps secure
Syliva Beeit’s future. I always appreciate your feedback too so if you
have any comments or suggestions then I’ll be happy to hear them.
The next issue will be for May/June so if you’d like any information included on
the calendar or community pages or if you’re interested in advertising, please
get in touch with me before the next deadline of 2nd April.
Until next time...
