Dezember 2009AbstractThe investigation of top quark properties will be amongst the first measurements of ob-servables of the Standard Model of particle physics at the Large Hadron Collider. Thisthesis deals with the suppression of background sources contributing to the event sampleused for the determination of the top quark mass. Several techniques to reduce the con-tamination of the selected sample with events fromW+jets production and combinatorialbackgroundfromwrongjetassociationsareevaluated.
