Description

Gunda Thöming geboren am 07.11.1975, in Elmshorn 2005 Referent: Prof. Dr. Hans-Michael Poehling Korreferent: Prof. Dr. Stefan Vidal Tag der Promotion: 14.12.2005 I Summary The extract of the neem tree Azadirachta indica (Meliaceae) with its insecticidal and ecological properties has been classified as one of the most important bioactive compounds of plants for integrated pest management. Currently, neem products have been mainly applied as spray treatment on the crop canopy with varying levels of success in pest control. The potential of neem applications to the soil and the use of the systemic properties of the botanical ingredients in controlling thrips were investigated in this study. Thrips such as Frankliniella occidentalis and Ceratothripoides claratris (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) are important pests causing high economic damage in a wide range of crops worldwide.
