So what is WordPress?
WordPress is a free open source website creation tool that powers about 30 percent of the websites and blogs found on the internet. It is best known for its flexibility and simple layout for individuals whose experience level in web design ranges from beginner to expert. WordPress also features wide array of themes and plugins which makes it fully customizable to meet the user’s needs. Alsousers of WordPress experience no limitation on the content which could be produced on their website unlike other publishing platforms. Another feature that WordPress well known for is how well it works with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Search engine optimization is the process of receiving traffic from search results on a search engine. The various search engines use SEO to place results based on relevance to the topic searched andthe better the SEO the closer the user’s content would be to the first page results.

To the left is the WordPress dashboard that is seen after logging into WordPress. Here is an overview of the different sections and their uses:
Posts
When making posts entries on a website or blog it is listed with newest post created at the top with the older post in reverse chronological order on the home page or the posts page. Also it is possible to control how many posts are displayed at a time within the Reading Settings. The posts can be found in the Archives, Recent Posts, and other widgets found on WordPress. The process of making a post is rather simple, under the post section you have click add new, then fill out the title and type the content of your article. Finally you have to press publish to show your content on your blog or website.
Within the media section of the WordPress dashboard users are able to storage individual images, videos, audio, and slideshows which later can be added the pages or post on the website. In order to add Media Items such as audio, images, and videos which were previous discussed you would have to open the page or post in which you would want to add your media. Then Click your cursor on the area of the content in which you would like the media to appear. Next, click the Add Media button in the top left corner of your toolbar to display your media.
Pages
The pages section is very similar to the post section; however pages do not use tags or categories. Awebsite’s privacy policy or about me content are examples of content generally put on pages. This form of content is often stored in the background of the website unlike post which is on the front end. Another key feature of the page section the fact that it is timeless, while post are presented in reverse chronological order based on the dated posted.
Comments
In the comment section of your website or blog visitors are able to add feedback to your posts and pages. However the creator of the website or blog has the option to disable or enable comments from appearing on their site. The comment section is actually a great way to get feedback on the content of your blog or website, so that you can continuously make improvement on your content.
Appearance
Under the Appearance section of WordPress the user is able to customize the appearance of their site. WordPress features thousands of themes which can satisfy the needs of various website or blog types. Under the Appearance section it also features widgets, menu, header, and background for further customization. It is also recommended that you select a responsive theme for your website or blog. The reason for this is that responsive themes adjust automatically to mobile devices which in turn make your website look its best regardless of the device used to view it.

In WordPress the user section defines the privileges that different users on system have. This feature is critically important for larger scale websites which have multiple users as it defines the role each individual plays in maintaining the blog or website. Tools
